Hobart College, an all-men’s college founded in 1822, and William Smith College, an all-women’s college founded in 1908, are four-year, private, liberal arts colleges that share a campus and academic programs, but maintain separate athletic departments and identities.

• The Hobart College seal contains the Latin phrase Vita Lux Hominum, which translates "Life and Light of Mankind." William Smith College's seal bears the Greek words for "life" and "soul."
