Willamette offers 20 varsity sports (10 men’s) that compete in the Northwest Conference against other private liberal arts colleges in Oregon and Washington. In 1996, Willamette and the entire NWC shifted affiliation from NAIA to NCAA Division III. The transition was seemless, as Willamette and the NWC continue to produce some of the top talents in D3. Cross Country Head Coach: Matt McGuirk, mmcguirk@willamette.edu, (503) 370-6803 CBS camera folks and state media from Indiana voted Willamette as the National Champions for team support, after a cheering squad with painted faces and posters accompanied the team’s top runners to NCAA Nationals.
